Extra features

Private Woods
Your own private woodland paradise awaits, connecting seamlessly from the garden gate. This peaceful acre of forest is exclusively yours during your stay - perfect for morning wanderings with coffee in hand, afternoon adventures with your pup, or peaceful evening strolls beneath the trees.

No shared paths or planned timing is required - just step out whenever the mood takes you and lose yourself in your own slice of wild Wales. It's those precious moments of having nature all to yourself that make Ty Twt truly special.

This was loosely fenced when I last visited, but I wouldn't guarantee it being secure for tiny dogs.

Things to note

The Garden
The private garden offers a lovely enclosed space to relax, bordered by lush natural hedging reaching up to 1.8 meters and with secure gates. While the mature boundaries create a wonderful sense of privacy and security, if you have a curious small dog with a taste for exploration, you might want to keep an eye on them during garden playtime – think of it as secure but not totally escape-proof for a tiny, determined escapologist.

Lofted Space
The host kindly asks that the mezzanine bedroom remains dog-free. The stairs leading up to this lofted sleeping space are quite narrow and can be slippery, so they're not ideal for dogs (who have much better lounging options downstairs anyway!) or guests who might find steep stairs challenging.

Cats
The property shares its woodland setting with two independent feline residents who prefer to maintain a polite distance. While you might catch a glimpse of them going about their daily patrols, they're well-versed in avoiding any holiday-making hounds and typically stay well away.

Find out more

Nestled in a cosy pocket of north Wales, Ty Twt is a charming self-built and beautifully quirky hideaway that perfectly balances rustic comfort with outdoor adventure. This dog-friendly retreat lies west of Denbigh, offering a slice of North Wales paradise, where mornings begin with coffee on the veranda and evenings are best spent curled up by the log burner on the sofa.

The stained glass window is a gorgeous feature and your dogs will love an afternoon snooze as the sunlight streams through. The location is a dream for nervous dogs who need their space - the surrounding area offers serene footpaths that tend to be wonderfully quiet, meaning you can relax and enjoy walks without the worry of frequent encounters with other dogs or strangers. The private setting means your anxious pup can decompress and truly unwind, taking in new scents and sounds without being overwhelmed. Whether you're doing gentle lead walks around the private woodland or sitting quietly on the veranda watching the world go by, this is a space where both you and your dog can completely relax and reset, away from the hustle and bustle.

Your own slice of Welsh woodland awaits, with direct access right from the garden - no need to venture onto public paths or roads to enjoy those early morning or evening strolls. Simply step out from your private enclosed garden and you're immediately immersed in an acre of tranquil woodland that's exclusively yours during your stay. It's perfect for those "just five more minutes" walks or when you fancy a peaceful wander with your morning coffee.

The thoughtful setup extends to arrival too - no stress about where to park or navigating busy spaces with an excited pup. You'll have your own private parking spot right by the cottage, meaning you can unload the car (and all those essential doggy supplies!) with ease. From the moment you arrive until the moment you leave, everything is designed for privacy and peace of mind - your car, your woodland, your space. This level of seclusion is what makes Ty Twt such a special find, especially for those seeking a genuine escape.

The heart of this charming hideaway is its well-equipped country kitchen, stocked with all those cooking essentials that make life easier - a carefully curated selection of herbs and spices, proper olive oil and aged balsamic vinegar, plus the morning necessities of fresh coffee and various teas. As a warm Welsh welcome, you'll discover a special hamper filled with handpicked local treats, fresh milk, juice and other goodies like homegrown tomatoes and (if you're lucky) homemade sloe gin.

For those who love outdoor cooking, prepare to be spoiled. Fire up the beautiful brick BBQ for sizzling suppers under the stars, relax around the fire pit toasting marshmallows - there's even a wood-fired pizza oven! There's also no need to worry about running out of wood - there's an unlimited supply to keep those flames dancing all holiday long.

Dogs are warmly welcomed too, with little touches like spare leads, dog towels, a portable dog shower, and throws for the sofa as well as treats and even a dog-sitting service available. At Ty Twt both you and your dogs are well catered for.
