Extra features

Cosy Tipi
Transform your summer evenings with the cosy tipi space for alfresco dining, freely move the gas BBQ over to the tipi and create an alternative outdoor kitchen, perfect for cooking up delicious meals while enjoying the fresh air. The tipi’s intimate ambience sets the scene for relaxed dining.

Local Beach
The path from your doorstep leads you on a short 10-minute walk to Cambo Beach, where gentle waves roll onto the shore. This beach is quiet, flat, and open, with wide paths that make it easy to spot and avoid other walkers if needed. Early mornings and sunset walks feel private, with only the occasional fellow walker.

Stables Café
Experience creative, award-winning cooking made from scratch, served daily from 10 am. Located within Cambo Gardens with vegetarian and vegan-friendly takeaway options. Guests can enjoy indoor and outdoor seating in the courtyard, with a spacious covered area available for rainy days.
The café is also dog-friendly!

Books & Games
Books and games, such as Jenga and Connect Four, are provided to help you unwind and relax. This is perfect for families.

Woodlands to explore
Perfect for dog walks, the bothy is located right next to a wooded area, which is ideal for walkies. These woodlands also have paths that take you through to the beach or the Cambo estate garden and cafe.

Dogs Can Stay
If your dog is comfortable and settled alone they may be left unattended for short periods at the accommodation. This allows you to visit a local pub or café while ensuring your pet remains safe and relaxed should they prefer. However, please ensure they have everything they need and won’t be distressed or destructive.

Things to note

Off Grid
As the name suggests, this cosy bothy is off-grid and fully solar-powered, so be ready to unplug and unwind! With one 3-pin socket and four USB charging points, there is also no Wi-Fi at the bothy and a limited signal. Bring a good book and be ready to embrace nature. (Should you need wifi, the café has free wifi beside where you leave your car.)

Footpath
An old footpath runs past the Bothy, about 15m away. It no longer leads to the beach so shouldn't be used by anyone else other than Bothy guests - however occasional walkers may get lost or go exploring and there's a chance you may see someone walking by from the windows and they may have dogs with them (on lead). The Bothy does have blinds for the doors and windows should you need them.

Dogs Parking & Shared Spaces
Parking for this accommodation is close to the cafe, but it's private, tucked away, and only shared with one other cabin. Your dogs could glimpse other dogs when arriving or leaving. There may be dogs seen around the main Cambo estate, e.g., the cafe area and the car park, as it is a dog-friendly estate and the car park is near the cafe. The Estate, however, is a dog on lead only site, so you should not encounter any off-lead dogs.

Mini Fridge
The bothy has a mini fridge and outdoor cool box but no freezer however, if you feed RAW the host can provide additional ice blocks, and it will keep frozen food frozen for up to 4 days if needed.

Surrounding Farmland
The surrounding farmlands are planted and free from livestock currently. However, there could be livestock in the future, and you may wish to enquire prior to booking in case this was to change.

Prey & Wildlife
For dogs struggling with prey, there is a good chance you will see squirrels, birds, and hares. You may also catch a glimpse of deer grazing quietly in the distance, if you are lucky, usually at dawn or in the evening.

Garden Area
The surrounding garden space is large however there is no 'fully enclosed' space surrounding the bothy therefore dogs will require long lines, there is a ground tie provided allowing you and your dog to mooch around the surrounding space safely without worry of escape.

Find out more

Tucked away in a calm section of its own woodland on the edge of Cambo Estate, this modern bothy is a perfect retreat for those who love nature but don’t want to compromise on comfort. Imagine stepping into your own part of a woodland clearing, where a charming off-grid bothy sits nestled among towering trees. The air carries the fresh scent of pine and sea salt, hinting at the nearby coastline.

The Bothy itself is a modern yet rustic retreat, its large windows framing the landscape beyond - rolling fields stretching towards the horizon.

As you step inside, warm timber interiors wrap around you, creating a cosy Scandi-style space. The open-plan space is simple but thoughtfully designed, with soft furnishings that invite you to sink in and unwind. Sunlight streams through the windows during the day, while in the evening the glow of a wood-burning stove casts flickering shadows across the warm wooden walls.

The bed nooks are built into the walls like secret hideaways offering a snug retreat, each with a woodland-framed window that lets you wake up to birdsong and dappled morning light. The kitchen area is compact but practical, with everything you need to cook up a meal whether inside or dining alfresco. Stepping outside, a large tipi with a crackling fire pit sits among the trees, draped with fairy lights that twinkle as dusk settles. A wooden picnic table stands nearby, perfect for morning coffee surrounded by birdsong or a late-night glass of wine under the stars. A hammock sways lazily between two trees, inviting you to pause and breathe or dive into the pages of a good book within the peace of this retreat.

Sleeping up to four guests, The Bothy features two private double bed nooks, each adorned with organic linens and their own woodland window. Despite its compact size, the space is cleverly designed with a well-equipped kitchen, a spacious shower room, and an open-plan living area centred around a wood-burning stove. Fully solar-powered, it provides modern comforts such as lighting and charging ports while maintaining an eco-friendly approach.

Indoors, a two-ring gas hob and wood-burning stove allow for easy meal preparation. Outdoors, you’ll find a gas BBQ and a large firepit inside a 7m tipi, perfect for cooking under the stars. The picnic bench and hammock offer the ultimate al fresco dining experience.

Just a short stroll away, Cambo Sands (Kingsbarns Beach) awaits - a wide, dog-friendly stretch of golden sand dunes and rock pools perfect for exploring. The flat, open paths provide easy beach access, making it simple to navigate while keeping an eye out for other walkers. Despite its popularity, the area maintains a secluded feel, with early mornings and sunset strolls offering peaceful solitude. While dogs should remain on a lead near The Bothy due to the surrounding open farmland, the beach provides ample space for off-lead adventures.

Refresh in a large walk-in shower stocked with eco-friendly toiletries, and wrap yourself in the super-size towels provided for each guest. A starter supply of logs and kindling ensures a warm and inviting atmosphere by the wood-burning stove. In the tipi, fairy lights and lanterns create a cosy setting for relaxing evenings. For added convenience, USB charging ports and a single 3-pin socket are available for low-power devices.

Curl up by the fire, stargaze from the tipi, or take in the coastal views, The Bothy offers a one-of-a-kind off-grid experience. A place to disconnect from the world, reconnect with nature, and create unforgettable memories.
